What to Expect

Therapy can be both challenging and enlightening. My goal is to create a safe and comfortable space that will lend itself kindly to enhancing self-awareness and building on your strengths in order to reach your goals.

The human experience does not fit into a neatly packaged box and although my primary focus is emotion-focused work, I use an integrative approach, drawing from various evidence-based practices to ensure that your unique needs are being met. I provide a range of services, including emotion-focused therapy, family therapy, and individual therapy, offering tailored support to address and navigate the unique needs of each client and their relationships.

Emotion Focused Therapy

What is EFT and EFFT?

Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) is an approach that aims to support you in identifying, accept, express and regulate your emotions. Emotions are the drivers of our decision making and behaviours and having skills to accept and move through emotions in a healthy way supports overall health and wellness. EFT involves you working with your therapist to experience emotions in a different way that will allow for deeper connection with the self and others and increase skill in helping yourself through life’s challenges.

Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) is an evidence-based approach that believes that the best way to work with a loved one who has difficulty managing their emotions and overall mental health is to empower caregivers (primarily parents or spouses) to learn the skills to support them. The therapist works with parents (to children of all ages) and other caregivers to increase involvement in symptom interruption, support their loved one to identify, make sense of and process difficult emotions that may drive problematic patterns, increase healthy behaviours and identify and process their own blocks to providing support, if relevant. This process also supports relationship repair as needed.

Individual Therapy

Whether you are looking to process trauma, manage your emotions or work toward living by your value system, we will work together to develop and strengthen skills to achieve your goals.

Eating Disorders

I have worked in eating disorders for nearly a decade and have contributed to the field in various research studies and creation of treatment protocols and guidelines. I provide a multidisciplinary approach, including caregiver support, to care for children, youth and adults. I work predominantly with Anorexia (all types), Bulimia, purging disorder, binge-eating and ARFID.

Trauma Therapy

As a Certified Trauma therapist I embrace an integrative approach that considers the connection between mind and body for trauma processing. I am trained in emotion focused approaches that will support you to work through the intense emotions that evolve out of traumatic experiences, including attachment trauma, and I also offer somatic experiencing, cognitive processing and Brain Spotting. I have ample experience working with developmental/attachment trauma, abuse in all forms and first responders.

Family Therapy

Drawing from attachment-based and emotion-focused family therapies, family therapy aims to improve communication, build trust and resolve conflict within the family system.

Supervision and Consultation

I have over 8 years experience supervising clinicians in hospital, community and private practice settings. I am an approved Supervisor under CRPO and provide both generalized supervision with a predominant focus on trauma, emotion-focused and attachment-focused approaches, and family therapy. I am also formally trained in DBT, CBT, RO-DBT and FBT and provide specialized supervision for working with eating disorders. Supervision groups also available Monday Afternoons and Tuesday Mornings.

Let's Talk
